Applications To Avoid With Pneumatic Casters
Pneumatic casters have a larger footprint and soft wheels. This causes the caster to generate more friction, which translates to improved traction. While beneficial for many applications, moving the tray or cart requires more push force. It also requires a longer swivel lead for turns. In light of this, using pneumatic casters in tight spaces or conditions where enhanced maneuverability is desired is not advisable.
Our Pneumatic Caster Options
RWM’s pneumatic casters are composed of rubber and can be filled with either foam or air to cushion the load effectively. As the wheel inflates, it’s designed to seal tightly to the metal hub. Our pneumatic casters include:
- 46 Series: Features a heat-treated, cold-formed top plate, yoke, and button. This design is easily maintained and creates exceptional longevity.
- 65 Series: Features RWM’s patented Kingpinless™ single ball bearing precision machined raceway. Hardened to 53 Rockwell C minimum, the design incorporates zinc plating, generating reliable corrosion resistance.
- 76 Series: Features RWM’s Kingpinless™ single ball bearing precision machined raceway. The 3-inch diameter raceway is packed with half-inch ball bearings, which gives the caster exceptional durability and maneuverability.
- 95 Series: Features a sealed, 4.5-inch diameter raceway packed with 0.75-inch diameter carbon steel balls. Hardened to a 53 Rockwell C minimum, the 95 series will easily handle the heaviest loads.
- 125 Series: Features a 7-inch diameter raceway and 0.75-inch ball bearings. The design will transport the heaviest loads over the most uneven surfaces.
